Gender & Technology Survey

Hi! Thank you for considering completing the following survey.

The survey targets girls and young women between 15 and 29 years old.

If you do not belong to this category, you can of course respond to the survey, but your data will not be analysed. At least not for the scope of this research. Sorry for that :-)

The survey explores your relationship with technology. By responding to the questions you will get a better understanding of the role technology plays in your life and your needs.

This is not an easy subject. Be prepared that it might take you 20 minutes or more to complete all questions!

The survey is anonymous. For statistical reasons we will ask some generic demographic data, but nothing that would make you identifiable.

It is a non-commercial initiative, promoted by researchers from different countries in the framework of the RISEWISE project and in collaboration with the ENTELIS network.

The ENTELIS network is an initiative of three European umbrella organisations: EASPD, AAATE and EVBB. Together they aim to reduce the digital divide, in particular where the divide concerns persons with disabilities. The RISEWISE project adds a gender perspective to that objective and aims to identify the specific barriers that women with disabilities encounter in their life, including those related to technology.

We are interested in the answers of all respondents, but girls and young women with disabilities are particularly encouraged to complete the questionnaire. If you don’t have a disability your answers are precious as well! They will allow us to make comparisons between the groups.

By responding to the questions you will help us to get a better picture of the role technology plays in the lives of girls and young women. The results will help us to remove barriers to a further engagement with technology for all women

Various times already we have used the terms “Technology” and “Disability”. This is what we mean:
Definition of technology. In the framework of this survey, technology has to be understood as any mainstream or specially designed product or service based on electronics and the digital transmission of data.  This includes personal computers and mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, ambient assisted living and home automation technologies, advanced and personalised car electronics, mHealth devices and apps, web based services and apps, social media platforms, instant messaging software, video conferencing systems, and assistive technologies such as special input & output devices.
Definition of Disability. Persons with disabilities include those citizens that have long-term physical, mental, intellectual, or sensory impairments which in interaction with various barriers may hinder their full and effective participation in society on an equal basis with others.
